What course or license do I need to fly a DJI Spark commercially?

You don't need a license or course to fly a drone commercially, however, you may need to do a course to fly in congested areas

If you have a DJI DJI Spark and you want to know what the BEST drone qualification is in the UK for recreational and hobby drone pilots, you need to look no further than the CAA approved A2 CofC drone course with UAVHUB.

You can use the A2 Certificate of Competency to fly in locations not previously possible without doing an expensive course and paying yearly fees to the CAA!

When you have your A2 C of C, you can operate current drones which weigh 2kg or less in places you simply can't, without it! With some drones, you can fly virtually anywhere you like, you just need to avoid flying over people.

Drones between 250g-500g flying weight (valid until 31st December 2022)

People flying drones that are between 250g-500g (the DJI Spark included) will need to do the Drone and Model Aircraft Registration and Education Service (DMARES) to get their Flyer ID (this is free). Once you have your Flyer ID you will then need to get an A2 Certificate of Competency (A2 CofC) from a certified company such as UAVHUB.

Once you hold an A2 CofC you will be able to fly these drones in areas used for recreational, industrial, residential and commercial purposes. You must always maintain unaided visual line of sight with the drone and you can't intentionally overfly uninvolved people (people who aren't involved with your flight!).

If you choose not to get an A2 CofC, you will need to:

Do the Drone and Model Aircraft Registration and Education Service and get your Flyer ID
Stay 150 metres away from congested areas
Stay a minimum of 50 metres away from uninvolved people

You can also fly commercially with or without the A2 CofC.
